BREWERY REVIEW: Corner Point Brewing Company

Corner Point Brewing Company
Corner Point Brewing Company
Atmosphere: The brewery feels like you’re hanging out at your buddy’s house and your buddy brews his or her own beer. And that beer is really good. The brewery is located right along the Salmon Falls River in Berwick, Maine, right on the New Hampshire line. They have a number of tables outside where you can have your beer overlooking the river and passing traffic. Inside, there are a few picnic tables, high tops and smaller tables where you can enjoy your beer, along with a standing refrigerator with takeaway four-packs.
The brewery was pretty busy when we were there. There was a good mix of older couples and young families with small kids. There were also a few dogs on the patio listening to the live music.

Service: The service was excellent and the servers were very knowledgeable. They were able to help provide beer recommendations and followed up with us once we were through with our drinks to see how we liked them. It really felt like they liked what they were doing.

Variety/Styles of Beer: Corner Point really has something for everyone on tap. When we went, it had a great mix of Hefeweizens, IPAs, Porters and lighter ales. I first went with the “Bloodshot Ryeball IPA” – which is a tasty version of the somewhat forgotten West Coast IPA – and followed that up with “Totally Caved” – a hazy IPA that had some nice hoppy bitterness that you do not always get with hazy IPAs. I finished my day up with the “Prime Time Porter” – a very drinkable porter with a nice, subtle vanilla finish and nose.

Events (live music/trivia night/etc.): While I was unable to find a formal list of events, it looks like Corner Point does have live music on a fairly regular basis. The musicians that were playing when we were there played a mix of folk and bluegrass that was easy to listen to while tipping back beers.

Overall Thoughts/Recommendations: I really enjoyed Corner Point. The service was great. The beer was tasty. If you’re spending time at the Maine beaches, you know how crowded those towns and breweries can be. I highly recommend making your way west to Berwick for a couple pints to beat the crowds.
